Broomsticks are symbols of domesticity, subjugation, woman’s sexuality, and power. Women are connected to the end of one as their task of keeping homes clean is neverending. By anointing this simple tool the ability to fly empowers women with the agency to soar above it all, escape the servitude, to have a bird’s eye (witches eye) view, the clarity required to see from a different perspective and return by one’s own free will with the knowledge that the staff that restrains is also the vehicle for liberation.
